The bittorf wireless company was founded in 2004 as a spin-off from the Ilmenau University of Technology, and formally began business in 2006 in Weimar.
Dissatisfaction with existing solutions for wireless networking, new discoveries from research and not least the excitement of customers with the prototype were the main drive for the development of a so-called mesh WLAN system. The principle of the fast, symbiotic data transfer via intermediate points to create total cover for an entire building complex has been continuously developed to be ready for market.
The need to respond to individual customer requirements led to the development of a portfolio including radio-relay systems as well as the interlinking of our mesh networks with sensor systems for building management.
The consistent use and development of open-source software, along with the conscious decision to not work together with any one manufacturer were both crucial factors to success. Our customers are provided with wireless networks that represent the latest developments in research and are excellently documented, and which offer an unrivalled price-performance ratio.
